Dangerous Goods List, Columns 7-9

Two columns fall under (7) - Limited and Excepted Quantity Provisions.

Column (7a) - Limited Quantities provides the maximum quantity per inner packaging or article for transporting dangerous goods as limited quantities.

Column (7b) - Excepted Quantities provides an alpha-numeric code indicating the maximum quantity per inner and outer packaging for transporting dangerous goods as excepted quantities. Both of these subjects will be covered in greater detail shortly.

Column (8) - Instructions and Column (9) - Provisions together come under the heading "Packing."

Column (8) - Instructions provides the specific packing instruction for the substance, which outlines the packing method that must be used for a given dangerous good. A "P" in the code given refers to packaging, and an "LP" refers to large packaging. Note that when a code including a P or an LP is not provided, the substance is not allowed in either packaging or large packaging.

Column (9) - Provisions gives the alpha-numeric designation for any special packing provisions that may apply. Special provisions are designated as "PP" for packagings and "LP" for large packagings, both followed by a number. Locate these provisions by finding the packing instruction designated in Column (8); the special provision will be listed at the bottom of the table.
