Marine Pollutants
The final chapter in Part 2, 2.10, Marine Pollutants, briefly outlines requirements for the shipping of items designated as marine pollutants. In the DGL these goods are noted with a "P" in column 4 - Subsidiary Hazards and an "MP" in the index at the end of Volume 2. All marine pollutants in Classes 1 through 8 must be transported under the rules for their specific UN number. If they cannot be classified in these classes, they are shipped under UN numbers 3077 or 3082, and must be transported under those rules. Properly packaged marine pollutants in small amounts do not need to meet the provisions for marine pollutants in the Code, but must continue to meet all other requirements for their class.
