Provisions for Packagings for Class 6.2-Category A

In the next chapter in Part 6, 6.3 - Provisions for Construction and testing of Packagings for Class 6.2 Infectious Substances of Category A, requirements are provided for packages used to transport the most dangerous infectious substances. Markings for these packages follow a pattern similar to all UN approved packagings, but they must include "CLASS 6.2" on the first line, and may be designated with a "U" or "W" if the package complies with certain provisions (as outlined in 6.3.3.2). Markings must be durable, legible, and readily visible meeting specific size requirements outlined in 6.3.4.1. Packagings for Class 6.2 Category A substances must pass certain tests, which are spelled out under 6.3.5. Performance standards for such tests as drop, puncture, and stack tests are provided. For some packaging types, additional testing using water spray, cold conditioning, and additional drop methods are also specified. A test report must be prepared and available to packaging users.
