Special Provisions for Certain Goods
When the Dangerous Goods List column (6) - Special provisions indicates that a special provision is relevant to a dangerous good, the meaning and the requirements of that special provision are set out in Chapter 3.3. Some numbers are not included in the list. Once used, they are retired permanently to avoid any confusion that may arise from their reuse. Provisions 16 through 377 are general provisions; from 900 forward, the provisions are specifically applicable to maritime shipping of dangerous goods. A specific good can, and often will, have more than one special provision listed in column (6). All listed provisions are mandatory.
