Polar Water Operations Manual - Sample
The Polar Code roughly outlines how a PWOM should be presented by providing a sample table of contents and guidance for each section, chapter, and subchapter. This model is wholly inclusive, and there are parts that may be omitted when creating an individual vessel's PWOM. These omissions pertain mostly to Category C ships, as it may not be necessary for them to have procedures for incidents that have a very low probability of occurring. By marking these aspects as "not applicable" in their PWOM, they acknowledge that the aspect has been considered, and not overlooked.
The sample PWOM is broken out into the following sections:
- Operational capabilities and limitations
- Ship operations
- Risk management
- Joint operations
