Class 6 - Division 6.2 Biological Products
If the biological product is manufactured and packaged in accordance with the requirements of the approved national authority and transported for the purpose of final packaging or distribution, they are not subject to these regulations. However, any biological product that does not meet the requirements of the approved national authority and are known or reasonably believed to contain infectious substances must be assigned to UN 2814, UN 2900, or UN 3373, as appropriate.
Genetically modified microorganisms that do not meet the criteria for infectious substances are classified as Class 9 Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods.
Medical or clinical waste containing Category A infectious substances must be assigned to UN 2814 or UN 2900. Medical or clinical waste containing Category B infectious substances must be assigned to UN 3291. Any decontaminated medical or clinical waste that previously contained infectious substances is not subject to these regulations, unless it meets the criteria of another hazard class.
Infected animals can only be transported under the terms and conditions of the appropriate national authority.
