Class 6 - Division 6.2, Classification Exceptions
Substances exempt from Division 6.2 classification include the following:
- Substances unlikely to cause disease in humans or animals
- Substances containing micro-organisms that are non-pathogenic to humans or animals
- Substances that have neutralized or inactivated any present pathogens so that they no longer pose a health risk
- Environmental samples not considered to pose a significant risk of infection
- Dried blood spots collected on absorbent material, fecal occult blood screening tests, blood or blood components collected for transfusion, and any organs or tissues to be used in transplantation
In addition, certain substances and articles are exempt from Division 6.2 classification if they are packaged appropriately.
