Glass ampoules must be heat-sealed, gas and liquid-tight.
- Plastic - These packagings must be well constructed with closures made of good quality polyethylene or other suitable plastic that are sufficiently tight to prevent leaking and sifting. Stoppers or corks must be held in position with wire, adhesive tape, or other positive means.

- IP7A - Uniform quality steel plate or non-ferrous metal of uniform drawing quality; minimum wall thickness of 0.20 mm
- IP7B - Uniform quality steel plate or non-ferrous metal of uniform drawing quality; maximum capacity must not exceed 1 L
- IP7C - Composed of approved thermoplastic materials, such as PET, PEN, nylon, or a blend; maximum capacity must not exceed 500 mL
