IATA, Class 4 - Packing Instructions
In addition to general packing instructions described in Section 5, specific packing instructions are listed in Section 4.2 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and can be found in Section 5.4. The packing instruction numbers are in the 400 range.
For example, Packing Instruction 455 is used for safety matches. In addition to the general packing requirements, matches must be tightly packed to prevent movement within the package. Movement can cause ignition when the matches rub against the book, box, or card. The matches must be securely wrapped in foil or packed tightly in inner packaging. No more than 50 books of matches may be packed in one inner packaging.
