IATA Class 7 - General Requirements
Packages and packaging must be designed and tested to retain the integrity of containment and shielding during transport. The packages must meet the following general requirements:
- Designed to be properly secured during transport
- Designed to be easily handled and transported
- Sturdy and secure lifting attachments that are removable or otherwise rendered incapable during transport
- External surfaces can be easily decontaminated and are free from protrusions
- External surface designed to prevent collection of water
- Designed to be capable of withstanding the effects of acceleration, vibration, pressure, and temperature changes during normal conditions of transport
- Materials of construction, components, and structures are physically and chemically compatible
- Valves are protected against unauthorized operation
