IMDG Code, Portable Tank Instructions & Special Provisions

Using a similar method to that described in the packaging section, the IMDG Code spells out specific, numbered portable tank instructions and any special provisions that may apply. These are referenced in the DGL under the heading "Portable tanks and bulk containers." (See columns 13 and 14.) Each dangerous good that may be shipped in a tank is given a number (with the prefix "T") designating the applicable portable tank instruction. As necessary, another number indicating any special portable tank provisions that may apply is provided in the next column.
