Canada Road & Rail Transport - Class 2
The following substances are included in Class 2, Gases:
- Flammable gases
- Non-flammable and non-toxic gases
- Toxic gases
- Mixtures of gases
- Mixtures of one or more gases with one or more vapours of substances included in other classes
- Articles charged with a gas
- Tellurium hexafluoride
- Aerosols
Common examples of Class 2 substances include oxygen, carbon dioxide, lighters, and aerosol cans.
Note that Part 1, Sections 1.32 through 1.32.3, of the TDG Regulations list several exceptions to the regulations related to this class. These exceptions apply to the following situations:
- Class 2 gases or ammonia solutions found in small quantities in refrigerating machines
- Class 2 gases that can be identified as UN1075, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (including such gases as butane, isobutane, and propane)
- Certain Class 2 gases that are transported at an absolute pressure between 101.3 kilopascals and 280 kilopascals at 20 degrees Celsius
- Certain Class 2 gases that are transported in small means of containment in road vehicles, such as compressed air or oxygen, acetylene, or propane
