Canada Road & Rail Transport - ICAO
If rail vehicle transport of a dangerous goods comes before or after transport by aircraft, dangerous goods must be handled and transported in accordance with the classification, marking, labelling, placarding, and documentation requirements of the ICAO Technical Instructions instead of those of the TDG Regulations. In this case, the shipping document must be easy to identify, legible, in indelible print, in English or French. The information on the shipping document must include the ERAP reference number and the telephone number to call to activate the plan when an ERAP is required for the dangerous goods shown on the shipping document.
The documentation must also comply with the rules found in the TDG Regulations, Part 3, Documentation, Sections 3.2, 3.5(1)(f), 3.5(2), 3.8, and 3.10.
The allowance for the requirements of the ICAO Technical Instructions to be complied with instead of those of the TDG Regulations in certain cases does not apply if the TDG Regulations forbid the transport of the dangerous goods, or if the dangerous goods are not regulated by the ICAO Technical Instructions, but are regulated by the TDG Regulations.
