Frequency of Exams and Consultations - Content

Medical examinations and consultations must meet specific requirements.

• They must contain a medical and work history.
• If the employee's history is already on file, then the information collected in the exam must be used to update this history.
• There must be an emphasis on any symptoms related to the handling of hazardous substances and health hazards, and an emphasis on the employee's ability (also referred to as "fitness") for job duties. This must also include the employee's ability to wear any required PPE, particularly under difficult conditions (like temperature extremes) that one might encounter on the work site.
