Frequency of Exams and Consultations - General

For these specific individuals, exams should occur at the following times:

  • Prior to employment
  • A minimum of once every 12 months, unless the attending physician states that a longer interval is acceptable (note that this "longer interval" cannot be greater than every two years)
  • Upon termination of employment
  • Upon reassignment to another area, if the employee has not had an examination within the last six months
  • As soon as possible once an employer is aware that the employee has developed signs or symptoms which point to a possible overexposure to hazardous substances or health hazards
  • As soon as possible if the employee has been injured or exposed above the permissible exposure limits or published exposure levels in an emergency situation
  • At other (more frequent) times, should the examining physician decide that more frequent exams are medically needed
