Pre-employment Screening - Determination of Fitness, Physical Examination
After the Review of Occupational and Medical History, the second part of pre-employment screening is the Physical Examination.
During the Physical Examination, employers must make sure that physicians do the following:
- Conduct a comprehensive physical examination of all body organs. This should focus on the pulmonary, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal systems.
- Note any conditions that could increase susceptibility to heat stroke. This could include obesity and a lack of physical exercise.
- Note conditions that could affect respirator use. This could include missing or arthritic fingers, dentures, poor eyesight, or hearing trouble.
