Requirements for Medical Screening

It is the employer's responsibility to make sure that all employees have proper medical screening. As a reminder, employers must do the following:

• Provide employees with medical examinations during normally scheduled work hours
• Cover the cost of transportation if the employee needs to travel from the worksite for testing (Note that the employer does not need to provide the actual transportation itself.)
• Compensate employees for the time they spend for their medical examinations (including travel time when the examinations are outside of normal work hours)
• Receive counseling of risks by a physician and/or employer and a medical removal plan.
