Drums that Should Not Be Moved

Some of the circumstances in which one should not move drums or containers include the following:

  • When ruptures or spillage could occur once the drum is moved
  • When drums or containers are bulging or swelling.
  • When drums or containers hold laboratory materials not yet identified through characterization. Laboratory packs must be assumed to contain shock-sensitive or explosive materials until they have been characterized (the contents have been determined).
