Employees Covered

29 CFR 1910.120(f) provides details regarding which employees require medical surveillance. It lists the following persons:

• All employees who wear a respirator for 30 days or more a year
• All employees required by §1910.134, titled "Respiratory Protection," to wear a respirator
• All employees who are (or might be) exposed to hazardous substances or health hazards (either at or above the established permissible exposure limit, or above the published exposure levels for these substances) for 30 days or more per year, regardless of respirator use
• All employees who are injured, become ill, or develop signs or symptoms due to possible overexposure involving hazardous substances or health hazards from a hazardous waste operation
• All employees who are injured, become ill, or develop signs or symptoms due to possible overexposure involving hazardous substances or health hazards from an emergency response
• HAZMAT team members
