Health Requirements - Communicable Diseases & First Aid
Every labor camp must have adequate first aid facilities that have been approved by a health authority. This facility (or facilities) must be maintained by employers and must be readily available for the emergency treatment of the injured, even during non-working hours.
Communicable diseases are a real concern when people live in close quarters. The camp superintendent is responsible for immediately reporting any suspected or confirmed communicable disease of a person in the camp. The camp superintendent must report this to the local health officer and must provide both the name and the address of the individual (or individuals) with the known or suspected communicable disease.
When there is a suspected food poisoning in the camp (or a prevalence of any illness with symptoms including fever, diarrhea, sore throat, vomiting, or jaundice), the camp superintendent must immediately report the outbreak to the health authority.
