Medical Surveillance Program - Employee Contributions

It is up to management to inform employees about the components of a successful Medical Surveillance Program:

  • Encourage all prospective employees to provide a "complete and detailed occupational and medical history"
  • Assure all potential and current employees that their medical records will remain confidential
  • Require workers to report any suspected exposures, regardless of degree of exposure and potential risk or harm
  • Require workers to alert a physician if they experience "any unusual physical or psychological conditions"
  • Ensure that all workers understand that "vague disturbances or apparently minor complaints (such as skin irritation or headaches) may be important"
