Medical Surveillance Program - Written Safety and Health Program
29 CFR 1910(b)(1) states that employers must develop and implement a written Safety and Health Program for employees who work in hazardous waste sites.
A written Safety and Health Program is a detailed, written plan for site and worker safety. It has many components, like a Comprehensive Workplan. 29 CFR 1910.120(b)(3)(vi) states that "the comprehensive workplan shall provide for the implementation of the medical surveillance program."
It is therefore because of the written Safety and Health Plan's Comprehensive Workplan that a Medical Surveillance Program must be instated.
