Safety Data Sheets, Section 3

Section 3 of a Safety Data Sheet is titled "Composition/Information on Ingredients." It includes the following information about the chemical:

• The ingredient(s) in the product
• Any impurities
• Any stabilizing additives
• Information on substances, mixtures, and chemicals where a trade secret is claimed

The SDS also includes the following details:

• The chemical name
• The common name and synonyms for the chemical
• The Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) number (and/or other unique identifiers)
• Impurities and stabilizing additives

If a chemical is a mixture, Section 3 also includes the following details:

• The chemical name(s)
• The concentration of each ingredient that is classified as a health hazard
• An estimate of the concentrations of each chemical if the following circumstances apply:
  • If the mixture is a trade secret
  • If there is batch-to-batch variation
  • If the SDS is for a group of "substantially similar mixtures"
