Support Zone

The Support Zone is where administrative functions occur. These functions ensure that the operations in the Exclusion and Contamination Reduction Zones run smoothly.

Personnel inside this zone include the Command Post Supervisor. Employees present vary depending on the required tasks. Personnel may also include the Project Team Leader and field team members who are preparing to enter or who have returned from the Exclusion Zone.

Support Zone personnel must alert the proper agency (such as the fire department or police department) if an emergency occurs. All emergency telephone numbers, change for the telephone (if necessary), evacuation route maps, and vehicle keys should be kept in the Support Zone.

Personnel may wear normal work clothes within this zone (rather than personal protective equipment). Any potentially contaminated clothing, equipment, and samples must remain in the CRZ until decontaminated.
