HAZWOPER Codes - U.S.C.

The United States compiles and publishes its statutes in the United States Code (U.S.C.). Each law passed at the federal level is designated as either a public law or a private law. Public laws are designed to affect the general public while private laws are passed to meet the special needs of an individual or group. Only public laws become part of the statutory code, the U.S. Code.

Like the regulations of the CFR, the codes in the U.S.C. are divided into sections called titles. While the titles of the CFR and U.S.C. are the same, what they contain is different.

Like the CFR, the U.S.C.. contains many regulations regarding hazardous waste and hazardous waste training. An example of a code about hazardous waste is 42 U.S.C. 9601 103(14), "Definition of hazardous materials."
