Required Training - Equivalent Training

Equivalent training is allowed when employers can show by documentation or certification that an employee's work experience and/or training has resulted in training equivalent to the training required in paragraphs (e)(1) through (e)(4) of 29 CFR 1910.120.

This training includes the following:

  • The names of personnel responsible for site safety and health
  • All safety, health, or other hazards present on-site
  • Work practices by which the employee can minimize risks from hazards
  • Safe use of engineering controls and equipment on the site
  • Use of PPE
  • Medical surveillance requirements, including recognition of symptoms and signs which might indicate overexposure to hazards

Consult 29 CFR 1910.120 for the full requirements for determining equivalent training.
