Required Training - Infrequent Site Workers

OSHA categorizes certain personnel as infrequent site visitors. These workers must receive a minimum of 24 hours of off-site instruction. Infrequent site visitors are defined as follows:

  • Personnel who perform a limited task at the site
  • Personnel who are not likely to experience exposure to hazardous substances over the permissible and published exposure limits

Examples of infrequent site visitors include (but are not limited to) those workers who perform any of the following tasks:

  • Groundwater monitoring
  • Land surveying
  • Geophysical surveying

Workers will receive this 24-hour initial training off-site. Additionally, workers will receive a minimum of one day of actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained and experienced supervisor.
