Required Training - Site Workers

OSHA categorizes certain workers as site workers. These workers must receive a minimum of 40 hours of off-site HAZWOPER initial training for site workers. Site workers include personnel such as equipment operators, general laborers, and supervisory personnel who are engaged in the following types of activities:

  • Hazardous substance removal
  • Other activities that expose or potentially expose workers to hazardous substances and health hazards

In addition to the required 40 hours of off-site initial training, the worker must receive a minimum of three days of actual field experience. The field training must occur under the direct supervision of a trained and experienced supervisor.
