Element 5: Education & Training

Education and training informs workers and managers of workplace hazards and controls, which helps them to work safely and be more productive. Education and training also provide workers and managers with a more in-depth understanding of the concepts behind a safety and health program, which helps them to contribute to its development and implementation.

The action items of education and training include the following:

1. Provide program awareness training.
2. Train employers, managers, and supervisors on their roles in the safety and health program.
3. Train workers on their specific roles in the safety and health program.
4. Train workers on hazard identification and controls.
