Employer & Employee Responsibilities
A large part of this unit covers employer responsibilities. As you will learn, employers are responsible for meeting all OSHA standards.
You will also learn about employee responsibilities and rights. While it is up to the employer to train all employees and foster a work environment that promotes safety, it is also in the hands of workers to carry out instructions and follow safety plans. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the employee to know his or her rights and exercise them when it comes to reporting concerns regarding work conditions. For this reason, you will learn about whistleblower protection.
Finally, it is not enough that employees understand their own safety-related responsibilities. They must also understand the responsibilities of their employer. Only then can they advocate for themselves, their coworkers, and their workplace.
