To do this, OSHA states that employers should "collect, organize, and review information with workers to determine what types of hazards may be present and which workers may be exposed or potentially exposed."

Completing this action item may involve the following actions:

• Reviewing sources such as OSHA standards and guidance
• Reading industry consensus standards
• Consulting the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) publications
• Consulting manufacturers' literature and engineering reports to identify potential control measures
• Staying current on relevant information from trade or professional associations
• Investigating control measures used in other workplaces and determining whether they would be effective at your workplace
• Getting input from workers who may be able to suggest and evaluate solutions based on their knowledge of the facility, equipment, and work processes
