Program Evaluation & Improvement - Action Item 1b
OSHA suggests using "lagging" and "leading" performance indicators. Lagging indicators "track worker exposures and injuries that have already occurred."
To determine lagging indicators, OSHA suggests that employers track the following:
- Number/severity of injuries/illnesses
- Results of worker exposure monitoring
- Workers' compensation data (claim counts, rates, and cost)
