Safety Data Sheets - Section 12

Section 12, titled "Ecological Information," provides information about how to evaluate the environmental impact of the chemical if it is accidentally released into the environment. OSHA lists this section as "non-mandatory."

Section 12 may include the following information (which you will learn about in detail in the coming slides):

Results from toxicity test data
If the chemical remains in the environment or if the chemical degrades
Results of tests of bioaccumulation potential
The potential for a substance to move from the soil to the groundwater
Other known adverse effects
