Safety Data Sheets - Section 2
Section 2, titled "Hazard(s) Identification," identifies the hazards of the chemical discussed in the SDS. It includes several requirements that you will learn about in detail in the coming slides:
- The hazard classification of the chemical (for example, flammable liquid category)
- A signal word (the word "danger" or "warning"; you will learn about this shortly)
- Hazard statements
- Pictograms
- Precautionary statements
- A description of any hazards not otherwise classified under the classifications described in "Pictograms"
If the chemical discussed in the SDS is a mixture that contains any ingredients with unknown toxicity, the SDS must also include a statement that describes what percentage of the total mixture consists of ingredient(s) with unknown acute toxicity.
