Site Control Program - Support Zone Facilities

The Support Zone must contain support facilities, which are listed in this photo.

When placing these support facilities within the Support Zone, consider the following:

  • Accessibility: Can personnel access this area easily?
  • Topography: Is there available open space? Is it located within easy accessibility for emergency vehicles? What is its location in relation to highways and railroads, and will these impede access at any time?
  • Resources: Are there ample roads, power lines, telephones, shelter, and water for the proper functions to occur within this zone?
  • Visibility: Is it within the line of sight of all activities in the Exclusion Zone?
  • Wind direction: Is it possible for the Supper Zone to be upwind of the Exclusion Zone? (It should be, if possible.)
  • Distance: Is it as far from the Exclusion Zone as it can be, practicably?
