Status and Capabilities of Emergency Response Teams to Provide Assistance

If contamination occurs from the potential and identified hazards, is the site equipped with a response team that is adequately prepared to handle the emergency? As part of hazard identification and site evaluation, 29 CFR 1910.120 requires that the status and capabilities of emergency response teams must be determined.

Employers must be sure that there is an emergency response team in place that is both adequately trained and equipped for any emergencies that may occur. When planning for emergency personnel involvement, employers or management should take into account the information regarding potential emergencies that was obtained during the preliminary evaluation and be sure that emergency personnel are capable of responding to these potential emergencies.
