Work On or Around De-Energized Equipment or Systems
Several tasks must be performed by an authorized person before work may be performed on de-energized equipment or systems if it has not been physically removed from the wiring system. These tasks include the following:
- Notifying all involved personnel in the work area
- Lockout/tagout procedures
- Effectively blocking the operation of or releasing the energy of all stored-energy devices that may provide a hazard, including capacitors or spring-loaded mechanisms
