ANSI/ISEA z87.1-2010 and 2015

OSHA lists ANSI/ISEA z87.1-2010 as one of the ANSI standards required to meet eye and face OSHA protection standards. However, ANSI actually revised its standard z87.1-2010, which is now ANSI/ISEA z87.1-2015. This standard was created by ANSI in collaboration with the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA), hence the name ANSI/ISEA.

ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 provides information regarding the standards for eye and face protection (safety goggles, spectacles, faceshields, and welding helmets), including design, performance specifications, and marking of eye and face products.

The standard itself may be purchased online in its entirety. Employers can also use the ISEA document Eye and Face Protection Selection Tool to select the appropriate gear. This document provides lists of hazards, the protection needed, the limitations to this equipment, and a note or label on the gear that will indicate marking requirements. (Note that ANSI/ISEA z87.1-2015 Table 3 will show complete marking requirements.)
