Levels of Personal Protection - Level D

Level D PPE is needed in the following situations:

  • When the workplace has no known or identified hazards
  • If the employee duties do not include splashes, immersion, potential (or unexpected) inhalations, or any other contact with hazardous levels of chemicals

According to OSHA, the following are Level D equipment and should be used in situations deemed to be in need of Level D equipment.

  • Coveralls
  • Gloves
  • Boots/shoes, chemical-resistant steel toe and shank
  • Boots, outer, chemical-resistant (disposable)
  • Safety glasses or chemical splash goggles
  • Hard hat
  • Escape mask
  • Face shield
