Prior to Drum or Container Handling - Preliminary Plan

A preliminary plan, developed after the preliminary inspection, will determine the following:

• The minimal (but necessary) amount of handling for drums or containers
• The personnel who should be involved in drum or container handling, emptying, or moving
• The plans for dealing with any potential hazards that stem from the drum or container contents (such as explosions or contamination)

Note that every time employers gain new information about the drums or containers, this plan should undergo revisions.
