Employee Responsibilities

Employees are entitled by law to working conditions that do not pose a risk of serious harm to them. As a reminder, OSHA also provides workers with the following rights, which have been addressed throughout this course:

  • The right to ask OSHA to inspect their workplace
  • The right to receive information and training about hazards, methods to prevent harm, and the OSHA standards that apply to their workplace (this training must be in a language that workers can understand)
  • The right to receive copies of test results conducted to find hazards (in this case, radiation exposure) in the workplace
  • The right to review records of work-related injuries and illnesses

In addition, employees can use the following tips to help ensure their health and safety while working in environments where the threat of harmful radiation exposure is real:

  • Participate in safety training.
  • Wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report any accidents or unsafe work conditions or actions.

If you believe working conditions are unsafe or unhealthful, you should speak up and bring the conditions to your employer's attention.
