Education & Training

Proper employee education and training is essential for safe work practices. Workers should be fully aware of the dangers presented by arc flash events and other electrical hazards and the measures to take to prevent serious injury or death. Training procedures should be included in the written safety program, and verification of employees' understanding of important safety considerations is a key part of their level of qualification and permission to work on energized equipment.

NFPA 70E provides specific requirements for employee training. In addition to an annual review of safety procedures, a supervisor is required to audit the training's effectiveness by watching for its correct implementation in daily operations to ensure compliance.
