Hand-intensive Work Hazards
Construction workers spend a lot of time using hand tools and hand-carrying materials. You may swing a hammer, turn a precision screwdriver, operate a vibrating rotary drill, pick up items with sharp edges, or carry bulky supplies.
Over time, this work can put stress on your hands, wrists, and arms and make you more susceptible to muscle or joint injuries. Your upper extremities are particularly susceptible to cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs). If you experience soreness or pain, and continue to work without allowing your hands and wrists to recover, you may be putting yourself at risk for serious and permanent injuries.
