Introduction to Construction Ergonomics

Construction work is physical work. When you are employed on a construction worksite, you may have to lift heavy loads, use tools that vibrate, reach overhead or use other awkward body positioning, grip or twist repeatedly, or put other demands upon your body beyond its natural limits.

Workplace safety experts have come up with methods to reduce the number of construction injuries based on the science of ergonomics- the study of workplace and equipment design to reduce worker fatigue, discomfort, and injuries. Special tools and work procedures have been designed around ergonomic principles to reduce unnatural strains upon the body.
