Reporting Unsafe Working Conditions
By law, you have the right to safe working conditions. If you believe working conditions are unsafe or unhealthful, you should speak up and bring those conditions to your employer's attention.
OSHA provides protection under the law to all employees against retaliation and discrimination for reporting unsafe working conditions. That means that you cannot be intimidated, threatened, restrained, coerced, blacklisted, fired, or in any other way retaliated against by your employer if you:
- Reported unsafe working conditions
- Refused to work in unsafe conditions
However, a vast majority of employers want to "do the right thing" and keep their workers safe. They also know that unsafe working conditions can cost them productivity and that worker injuries can cost them money.
