Safety Standards - CDC & NIOSH
The Center for Disease Control National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is a federal government research agency that investigates the causes of work-related diseases and injuries. NIOSH also evaluates the hazards of new technologies and work practices, and looks for ways to control these hazards so that workers are protected.
Publications by NIOSH about construction ergonomics include:
- Simple Solutions: Ergonomics for Construction Workers
- Ergonomic Guidelines for Manual Material Handling
- A Guide to Selecting Non-Powered Hand Tools
NIOSH makes recommendations to OSHA for their enforcement and federal legislation efforts.
