Your Body's Power Zone
Power Zone- this term refers to the area between the top of your shoulders and your waist where the body is most efficient at lifting and carrying. Working with your arms outside the power zone, or with your body twisted or bent outside neutral posture, can increase the risk of injury. You can think of the power zone as comparable to the strike zone in baseball.
Work that requires bending, stooping, or kneeling for long periods of time can cause stresses upon the joints and muscles of your back. Using specially adapted tools to maintain neutral posture and raising work areas to be easily reached within the body's power zone will help reduce the incidence of back injuries, strains, and sprains.
