Branch Circuits & Receptacles

The employer must use either ground fault circuit interrupters or an Assured Equipment Grounding Conductor program to protect employees on construction sites. We will go into more detail about this program later in the lesson.

All 120-volt, single-phase, 15- and 20-ampere receptacle outlets on construction sites, which are not part of the permanent wiring of the building or structure, and which are in use by employees, must have approved ground-fault circuit interrupters for personnel protection. This rule does not apply to receptacles on a two-wire, single-phase portable or vehicle-mounted generator rated no more than five kilowatts.

Outlet devices must have an ampere rating that is no less than the load to be served.

Receptacle outlets must comply with several requirements. A single receptacle installed on an individual branch circuit must have an ampere rating of no less than that of the branch circuit.
