Equipment Care
Conductors and equipment cannot be in the following locations, unless intended for use in a specific environment:
- Damp or wet locations
- Areas where gases, fumes, vapors, liquids, or other agents having a deteriorating effect on the conductors or equipment
- Areas with excessive temperatures
Equipment approved for use in dry locations must be protected against weather conditions during building construction.
Materials must be designed for the environment in which they will be installed, including as follows:
- Metal raceways
- Cable armor
- Boxes
- Cable sheathing
- Cabinets
- Elbows
- Couplings
- Fittings
- Supports
- Support hardware
