Installations Accessible to Unqualified People - More Than 600 Volts
Indoor installations of equipment operating at more than 600 volts that are accessible to anyone other than qualified people must meet certain requirements, such as the following:
- The installations must be made with metal-enclosed equipment or must be enclosed in a vault or in an area to which access is controlled by a lock.
- Metal-enclosed switchgear, unit substations, transformers, pull boxes, connection boxes, and other similar equipment must be marked with appropriate caution signs.
- If equipment is exposed to physical damage from vehicles, guards must be in place to prevent such damage.
- Openings in ventilated dry-type transformers and similar openings in other equipment must be designed so that foreign objects inserted through these openings will be deflected from energized parts.
